Bipper is launching internationally with Bulgaria as the first country. – Bipper will be offered through a mobile operator with more than 1 million customers and will be available in more than 200 stores, says founder and mother of three Silje Vallestad.
Bipper, the company that launched it’s mobile safety solutions in Norway last month, is going international. The service launched in Bulgaria Friday October 15 in partnership with VIVACOM, a leading Bulgarian mobile operator.
The service will be called VIVA Bipper.
– We just launched the service in Norway and now Bulgaria is next, says Silje Vallestad, Bipper’s founder. Since VIVACOM already had the right type of SIM-card, integrating Bipper was done quickly and allowed us to launch so soon, says Vallestad.
Sirma, Bulgaria’s largest software developer, has the exclusive franchise rights for Bulgaria. They are also, with Motorola, Bipper’s development partner, and have had a close partnership since the fall of 2008.
Vallestad says that VIVACOM, which is a family oriented mobile operator, has more than 1 million customers. Bipper will be sold in more than 200 stores all over the country. As part of the marketing campaign, VIVA Bipper will be promoted by Titi Papazov, a former basketball star. He has a dramatic story of his own, as one of his two kids who is adopted has HIV.
Bipper Communication AS, the award-winning Norwegian company, offers mobile safety solutions for children’s mobile phones. With Bipper on the mobile, parents are able to decide how their children use the mobile. Bipper also has a safety alarm and a localizations service. Vallestad got the idea for the service when her own children started school and she discovered that children as young as 6 years old had their own mobile phones.
– I started searching for safe mobile solutions for children, but I was not satisfied with any of the products that were offered neither in Norway nor internationally. This motivated me to start Bipper. Research showed that the need for safety was the main reason parents gave their children mobile phones. The majority of children also say that having a mobile phone makes them feel safer when they are alone, says Vallestad.
